Iron in the soils and rock create a red hue that is not commonly seen elsewhere in the United States. Further, Bryce Canyon National Park is well known for its natural amphitheaters that are full of rock spires and hoodoos -- many of which almost resemble humans. It is almost like the ancient Anasazi and Paiute Indians that once lived congregated in them for a meeting. These rock formations are also accompanied by bridges and arches.
 The area's history also attracts visitors to vacation here. Horseback riders and hikers do come across remnants of the ancient Indians; these include ancient structures on cliffs and images that Indians left on walls -- these are pictographs and petroglyphs. Others come here to explore the same region that Butch Cassidy and his wild bunch wandered around, which Hollywood has glorified in many western movies.
